All Mahirs food is still ‘handmade’ and freshly prepared using a combination of traditional and contemporary cooking methods. ‘Artisan’ family cooks who, with their culinary skills, have helped the Mahirs business develop into the force it is today, are still in its kitchens passing down years of family know how, recipes and cooking methods to our next generation of chefs. Furthermore, Mahirs handpic some of the finest chefs from around the world, we can also accommodate Gujarati, South Indian, Kashmiri, Indo Fusion, Oriental & European cuisines, taking into account the special dietary requirements of each.

‘Brief history to present day!’

Mahirs Experience is an independent family business which was established on the back of another family business, a small Indian delicatessen based on the renowned Soho Road in Birmingham.

In the early seventies two brothers Ajmer & Mahir Sahota founded Quality Sweet Centre, a small eatery serving the local community with freshly made authentic Indian sweets and savouries. The shop quickly became one of the best loved eateries in the area and was inundated with requests for it to offer an outdoor catering service for celebratory events such as weddings, birthdays and other commemorative occasions.

The brothers, highly skilled chefs in Indian cuisine, explored this opportunity and started catering for small intimate functions. Word quickly spread about the quality of the food served at these events and further orders followed. By now the shop was undertaking orders of all sizes from small events to large private and corporate affairs.

In addition to catering, clients started to require assistance in sourcing suitable venues for their events and required other services such as event decor, theming and entertainment. The brothers decided the time was right to rebrand and restructure the business, and with the inclusion of other members of the family, Mahirs Experience was founded!

Today Mahirs Experience is one of the leading outdoor caterers and event organisers in the U.K. With over 40 years of experience, the company encompasses both a catering division as well as an event services division.

The ‘family’ are still very much part of the business today and play an integral part in the running of the company occupying key positions such as Managing Director, Executive Head Chef & Head Events Manager.
